Chris Haspell leads a team of associates with expertise and experience in a wide range of areas that are important to golf course project. Chris was brought into the management team by Mike Keiser and Todd Warnock, He was charged with the task of gaining planning permission for a potential top 100 golf course in the Scottish Highlands, We gained planning permission in July 2018. Sadly the Scottish Government chose to overturn the Highland Council's decision in February 2020. I am still engaged by the Keiser's working on several other exciting projects.

Castle Stuart Golf Links

Working on the initial design team, building what we hoped would become a world top 100 golf course. We entered the top 100 at number 47. Daily duties for Chris included:

 

  • Design and shaping of the golf links from conception

  • Seeding and grow-in with all agronomic responsibility

  • Scottish open 2 years after opening

  • Working closely with the directors and GM on budgets and projects and profit and loss

  • Staff motivation, education and team building, with 11 staff plus seasonal staff

  • HR and recruitment along with staff monitoring and mentoring

  • Producing consistent top-quality surfaces

  • Health and safety

  • Four Scottish opens with Luke Donald and Phil Mickelson as just two of the winners

  • Management of volunteers – up to 55 in 2016

  • The last Scottish Open was televised worldwide to over 700 million homes

  • GEO certified

  • Environmentally sensitive while producing world class results

Horsholm Golf A/S with CK Golf and Design 

Working with the owner Mr Peter Arendorff to redesign and improve an existing 27-hole golf course. At this point Peter asked me if I would be retained by the business at Horsholm and if we could be partners in the construction business working on other golf courses.

 

  • Design and shaping of the changes to 27 holes

  • Raising the profile of the golf course and club with 1600 members

  • Install a three-hole training academy

  • Improvements to the range

  • Management of the greenkeeping team of seven

  • Management of the agronomy

  • Outside construction management and co-ordination
